Stefanie Dash Marvel Artist Statement My art is a journey. I explore the essential qualities of existence by forming a textured pattern wherein the random meets an underlying order. Pieces are layered and then reduced to expose the play of the elements. I use both the art and craft as a moment of clarity. Each of my mediums: weaving, drawing, painting, and printmaking offers a distinct departure point from which to explore. Each informs the concept individually without losing the connection to the journey. Recently my pieces have focused on the notion of held light. The interaction of light at play and at rest. I have emphasized this concept as it occurs in a natural setting. An idea of light loosened of constraint and allowed it’s innate freedom.
